New Service Concepts in Communal Services

As a part of our joint co-operation with the City of Lahti, a group of gifted students from Lahti University of Applied Sciences Institute of Design created some visualizations to support the development work of novel communal services. Great work! The further development of these concepts are now in the hands of the City of Lahti.

Lahti University of Applied Sciences, Institute of Design is offering Service design training (30 ECTS) as a part of their educational curricula, starting Autumn 2011. Education is mainly in Finnish, but Module 1B is in entirely in English and it will be produced in co-operation with IDEO Massachusetts (Gian Pangaro, Clark Scheffy) and Hogeschool Rotterdam (Bas Leurs, Peter Van Waart).

Many families have a tradition of playing board games. That can now be done even if family members are living apart. Technology enabling this was precented in CeBIT 2010 under the name "Digital Precence" .
